CEO Transformational Leadership and Corporate Entrepreneurship in China

ABSTRACT A chief executive officer (CEO) acting as the firm's transformational leader is typically viewed instrumental to corporate entrepreneurship in established firms, but how exactly does a higher level of come about, given CEO's actions? We suggest that organizational ambidexterity can function core mediating mechanism between CEOs and observed effectiveness this process varies critical contingencies related characteristics top management team (TMT), environment organization's design. Our empirical evidence, based on sample 145 Chinese private sector using three primary sources data (145 CEOs, 506 TMT members, 1,981 middle managers), provides support for moderated mediation process. find pathway from leadership through not significant when boundary conditions are ignored. However, environmental dynamism, collectivism, structural differentiation included moderators, CEO affect via creation effective functioning ambidexterity.
